What is Excel to JSON?
Excel to JSON converter reads a spreadsheet and turns it into JSON (JavaScript Object Notation), the text format used by APIs, databases and applications. The file is parsed locally in your browser with JavaScript, so the spreadsheet never leaves your device. Choose a single sheet or export every sheet at once, let the first row become the field names, and get either a pretty-printed or minified JSON document ready to copy or download.

Tips for best results
- ✓ Everything happens in your browser; the spreadsheet is never uploaded to a server.
- ✓ Keep a single header row at the top of the sheet so each column gets a clear field name.
- ✓ Choose “All sheets” to get one JSON object keyed by worksheet name.
- ✓ Use the sample button to see the expected layout of the output.
Frequently asked questions
What does the converted JSON look like?
With the header option enabled, each data row becomes an object whose keys are the first-row labels, and the sheet becomes an array of those objects. With the option disabled you get an array of arrays, keeping the original cell order.
Are my spreadsheets uploaded anywhere?
No. The workbook is read and converted entirely inside your browser, so your data never leaves your computer.
Can I convert a whole workbook with several sheets?
Yes. Pick “All sheets” and the result is a JSON object with one entry per worksheet, using the sheet names as the keys.
